The campaign began on World Environment Day, June 5, 2012, with a seminar on the theme 'Save the coastal environment', held at the Ahmedabad Management Association.

The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. S. K. Nanda, IAS, Principal Secretary, Forests & Environment Department, Government of Gujarat and was attended by 200 people.

Lectures delivered by guest speakers from renowned institutes such as CEPT University, PDPU and CESC were well received by the audience. The campaign involved eminent personalities of the city which included educationalists, government officials, private firms, schools etc. The campaign was conducted from June 2012 to August 2012.

The main objective of the campaign was to create awareness about the importance of the environment and making an effort towards turning the city into a green zone by planting the maximum number of saplings and ensuring that proper care was taken for their growth. Thousands of saplings were planted during the initiative. Several corporate groups, schools and eminent dignitaries actively participated in the initiative and supported the cause thus making the campaign a grand success.
