BORDER AREA DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (BADP)
WATER AND FODDER MANAGEMENT
Gujarat Ecology Commission has taken up the task of detailed planning and implementation of Ecological restoration of Banni and Pachachham Island of Kutch district to ensure fodder & water security and management through people participation. One of the steps in this direction is the implementation of the BADP project.Gujarat Ecology Commission, therefore, has decided to make an eco-friendly intervention to improve the saline and degraded areas of Kutch and thereby enhance the living standards of people of the regions under the Boarder Area Development Programme (BADP) of the Government of Gujarat. Under this project, activities such as soil-moisture conservation structures, rain water harvesting structures like check-dams, nala plugging, etc will be carried out.With a view to promoting Eco-restoration in Kutch District, GEC implemented following projects on community based approach :
- A village pond and a grass plot in 20 ha. in village Dhordo.
- One check-dam and a salinity Bandh with 7 Pucca Nalas and a grass godown in village Andho.
- One check dam in village Ratodia.
- One check dam in village Motapaiya.
